Why Life with KK Exists 

Welcome to Life with KK– a space for finding and sharing joy in this beautifully messy life.

If you’ve ever blown up your life and had to start over, felt like you never quite fit in, or wished someone would be totally honest with you about the good and the bad days… you’re in the right place.

My Story: From Broadcast Meteorologist to Starting Over

For the last decade, I built what looked like a very successful life as a broadcast meteorologist and environmental journalist. I won four Emmys and even an Associated Press award for “Best Meteorologist.” From the outside, it looked like I was winning in every area- high-profile job, amazing friends, incredible adventures all over the world.

But behind the scenes, I was miserable.

The stress from my job was slowly wearing me down. I developed chronic insomnia, debilitating migraines, severe anxiety, and depression. There was no amount of sleep that could cure the exhaution. I knew something had to change- because if it didn’t, I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep going.

So I quit.

Why I Left a Successful Career to Start Over

I quit my “high-profile” job, packed up my life, and drove across the country to move into my parents’ basement.

In one fell swoop, the life I knew, and the very detailed plan I had for my future, was gone. I had no idea what came next. I just knew I couldn’t go back.

And that’s where Life with KK began.

What Life with KK Is Really About

This space started as a way to share what it looks like to jump into the unknown- head first, terrified, and hopeful anyway. I wanted to be honest about starting over, about the grief and the relief that comes with it. And if I can do it, I truly believe you can too.

So if you’re feeling tired, burnt out, brave, curious- or some combination of all of the above- you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

This Space Is for Women in Transition

Life with KK exists to encourage women who don’t pretend that navigating life is easy or pretty all the time. If you’re walking through change, burnout, or becoming the woman you’ve always felt called to be, I saved a seat for you at this table.

This space isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence- showing up, being seen, and choosing growth even when it’s uncomfortable. Growth can be painfully hard, but over here we choose courage over comfort and faith over fear. We learn as we go. We make mistakes. And we’re not afraid to be seen trying, failing, and trying again.

Choosing Authenticity Over Perfection

Life with KK started because I couldn’t spend one more second of my life performing or conforming. I wanted a place where I could show up as my full self, not the perfectly curated version I had to be for TV.

This is new for me. Radical honesty. Open authenticity. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m not afraid to be seen trying.

So if you’re burnt out, stepping into a new season, or just in need of a little encouragement, pull up a chair and settle in. You and I have so much to talk about.
